3. What is Lip Blushing?

Lip blushing is a cosmetic semi-permanent tattooing method designed to enhance the outline and shape of your lips by adding natural-looking color that can last one to three years. Unlike traditional tattoo art, lip blushing focuses on altering both color and shape to create defined-looking lips. Here’s how the procedure works:

Numbing: First, your provider will numb your lips to minimize pain and discomfort. While waiting for the numbing agent to take effect, they’ll discuss your desired lip shape and tone, seeking your approval on any sketches.

Pigment Application: Using small needles, your provider will deposit a natural-looking pigment into your lips. This process occurs in multiple layers to achieve an even tone. The entire procedure typically takes 1 to 3 hours.

Pain and Discomfort: The numbing product helps reduce pain, but individual experiences vary. Some people may feel minimal discomfort, while others might be more sensitive. Consider taking acetaminophen before your appointment to further decrease pain.

Semipermanent Results: Lip blushing is considered semipermanent, meaning you’ll need to repeat the process every few years to maintain the results. Factors like frequent lip exfoliation, sun exposure, and smoking can affect how long the color lasts.

Possible Side Effects: Lip blushing carries similar risks to traditional tattooing. Minor side effects include swelling, redness, and pain, which decrease as your lips heal. Proper aftercare is crucial to prevent infection.

Natural-Looking Pigment: Your provider will help you choose a natural-looking pigment for your treatment. Lip blushing can help achieve more symmetry and tone, enhancing your overall lip appearance.

I will not tattoo outside of this natural lip line.

4. How long do brows take to heal?

It will take anywhere from 10-14 days for the skin to begin to appear healed and for the pigment to fade to its regular shade. You will need to avoid getting the area wet for 2 weeks (except for daily washing), including sweat. If you are working out on a regular basis, you’ll want to switch to something less vigorous. You can continue cleansing/moisturizing, makeup and normal care from the eyes down. Color and saturation will continue to change for about 4-5 weeks. At your 5-8 week touch up we will assess what changes could be made and after this second appointment you’ll set for 1-3 years! See a full run down of after care on my aftercare instructional page.

5. What is the healing time for piercings?

Each piercing is different, and each client is different too. Taking good care of yourself with a balanced diet, lots of water and sleep will help you heal faster. Here is a list of generic piercing heal times to give you an idea of what you can expect:

  • Lobe 6-8 Weeks or longer

  • Nostril 3-4 Months or longer

  • Tragus, Forward Helix, Helix, Rook, Daith and Conch 6-9 Months or longer

6. What is the healing like for a Lip Blush?

The healing process for Lip Blush takes approximately 4-7 days. In that time you may experience some dryness and texture until the lips naturally exfoliate themselves. Color may continue to change over the next few weeks until the ink has settled. An important note, do not use ANY of your own lip care that has been opened before. It is important that you aren’t exposing the lips to anything that isn’t sterile. See a full run down of after care on my aftercare instructional page.
